Editorial policy

Last updated:

This page sets out how Deskstor prepares and checks the guides published on this site. The policy exists so that readers setting up a home office or workplace know where the information comes from and how corrections are handled.

Selection of topics

Guides and articles are built around the questions people ask when choosing desks, storage units and related furniture. Common questions include how much desk space is needed for different tasks, what storage options suit small rooms, and how to set up a workspace that stays comfortable through a full day. Topics are chosen for practical value rather than novelty.

Research and fact-checking

Each guide draws on publicly available reference works, official guidance on workplace ergonomics, and material published by recognised bodies in the field of furniture and workspace design. Facts are cross-checked against more than one source wherever possible. Where a guide cites measurements, dimensions or standards, those figures come from published references and are stated as given. Sources are listed at the end of longer articles as further reading.

Writing standards

Guides are written in plain British English. Technical terms are explained in context the first time they appear. The focus is on what works in practice rather than theoretical ideals. No guide promises results or uses exaggerated claims. Where options exist, they are presented with their trade-offs so the reader can weigh them. Step-by-step instructions are numbered; options and comparisons are broken into short lists.

Independence and funding

No article or guide is paid for by a manufacturer, retailer or third party. Rankings and comparisons are made by the editorial team, not sold as placement. Nothing is marketed to the reader on this site. The content exists to answer questions about desks and storage, not to promote a product or service.

Updates and corrections

Guides are reviewed when a standard changes, when new products shift what is commonly available, or when a reader points out an error. Corrections are made without delay. A reader who spots a mistake or outdated detail can report it by writing to [email protected]. The correction will be applied within 48 hours and no error is left uncorrected.

Suggesting a topic

Topic suggestions from readers are welcome. If a question about office desks or storage is not covered in the existing guides, write to the address above with the subject line in a sentence or two. Not every suggestion will become an article, but each one is read and considered against whether it fits the site's scope and would help others in a similar position.
